KOTTAYAM: Kottayam was in a spot of bother against Alappuzha at the end of the rain-truncated first day of the South Zone inter-district U-22 cricket tournament at the Medical College ground here on Sunday. At stumps, Kottayam was struggling at 94 for six. At the Nehru Stadium, Pathanamthitta was 65 for two against Thiruvananthapuram when rain and bad light prevented play after 24 overs. The scores: Kottayam 94 for six in 47 overs (Shanmugaraj 29, Harikrishnan 27, Bibin K. Oommen two for 20) v Alappuzha; Pathanamthitta 65 for two in 24 overs (S. Anish 31 not out) v Thiruvananthapuram.
