Double for Aparna Nair

ALAPPUZHA: Aparna D. Nair won a double in the E. John Philipose Memorial all-Kerala Open prize money table tennis tournament at the YMCA hall here on Sunday.

Aparna D. Nair (Tvm) overcame Anju K. Thomas 11-6, 10-12, 2-11, 11-6, 7-11, 11-7, 11-7 to win the women's singles title. Aparna also won the youth title with an 11-6, 11-5, 11-5 win over Lakshmi Vijayan (Tvm).

M.R. Rajeev defeated P. Adarsh 5-11, 11-9, 11-6, 11-8, 5-11, 11-4 to win the men's singles title.

Anjelo Porathur (Tsr) won the boys' youth title with an 11-8, 11-9, 12-14, 11-5 win over Sharath V. Joy.

The results: Men (Final): M.R. Rajeev (Tsr) bt P. Adarsh (Capstock) 5-11, 11-9, 11-6, 11-8, 5-11, 11-4. Semifinals: P. Adarsh (Capstocks) bt Venu Girish (Tsr) 11-7, 8-11, 11-3, 14-12, 11-5; M.R. Rajeev (Tsr) bt R. Rajesh (SBI) 11-4, 11-8, 7-11, 16-14, 8-11, 11-4.

Boys (Youth): Final: Anjelo Porathur (Tsr) bt Sharath V. Joy (AYTTA) 11-8, 11-9, 12-14, 11-5. Semifinals: Anjelo Porathur (Tsr) bt Vishnu Narayanan (AYTTA) 11-7, 9-11, 11-5, 11-3; Sarath V. Joy (AYTTA) bt Shyam Narayanan (AYTTA) 6-11, 13-11, 5-11, 11-9, 12-10.
