KOTTAYAM: Union Minister for Agriculture Sharad Pawar will visit Idukki on Monday and interact with farmers' representatives and district authorities to take stock of the agrarian situation in the high-range district, which is facing one of the worst crises in recent history. The visit assumes importance in the light of the State's demand to include the district in a special agriculture package being launched by the Centre. According to district authorities, the Minister is scheduled to arrive at Muttom helipad near Thodupuzha, by 9.20 a.m. He will interact with farmers' representatives at a conference organised at a private tourist resort. This will be followed by a power-point presentation of the situation by the district authorities. Political leaders are also expected to meet Mr Pawar. The Minister is expected to leave for Palakkad by 12.30 p.m.
