NEW DELHI: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has said it has not been slow in probing the fake stamp paper scam cases. Reacting to reports in a section of the Press, the investigative agency said it took up the probe in 2004 and had already filed charge sheets after pursuing all leads and evaluating all possible evidence in almost all the cases against the 460 accused persons pending in various courts. "Investigation is continuing only in six cases. The CBI had taken up investigation of 48 fake stamp paper cases on the Supreme Court order of March 15, 2004. The CBI took up investigation of 19 cases suo motu in 2004. Thus it took up the enormous task of investigation of 67 cases, " a CBI spokesman said.
