THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Youth Congress State president K.P. Anikumar alleged here on Saturday that the Government had ordered a judicial inquiry into the sexual harassment charge against Kerala Congress leader P.J. Joseph in order to shield him. Addressing a press conference, Mr. Anilkumar said an FIR should have been filed against Mr. Joseph as prima facie a case had been established against him. He alleged that Mr. Joseph had proposed the names of judges to be considered for holding the inquiry. Earlier, he had suggested that the preliminary inquiry should be conducted by a woman IPS officer. The officer thus assigned had confirmed the accusations against him. He said the procedure of the accused naming the investigative officer was not acceptable. He recalled that a case had been registered against Neelalohitadasan Nadar who had to resign as Minister from the previous LDF Ministry when he was accused of outraging the modesty of an IAS officer. The judicial inquiry ordered by the then Government could not proceed on account of a court stay obtained by the victim against public hearing. He said Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan, who had declared a crusade on atrocities against women and corruption, was now admitting a person who had been accused of corruption in his Cabinet. The Minister-designate T. U. Kuruvila was the Chairman of the State Housing Board when the alleged irregularities took place in the Board.
