MYSORE: More than 15,000 aspirants for the State Civil Services took the preliminary examination conducted by Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) here on Sunday. They were among the more than 84,000 candidates who appeared for the preliminary examinations for selection to the post of probationary gazetted officers across the State. As many as 42 centres were set up in the city for eight districts falling under the Mysore division Mandya, Chamarajanagar, Kodagu, Hassan, Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Chikmagalur and Mysore. The candidates appeared for optional paper and general studies, both of which are based on objective type questions. Directions were issued to them not to bring electronic gadgets such as mobile phones to the examination hall. Invigilators at several centres collected mobile phones from the candidates before commencement of the examination. Police personnel were deployed at all the centres in the city to prevent any untoward incident.
