Narendra accepts Shabbir's challenge over resignation

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leader A. Narendra has expressed willingness to resign as MP if the Congress Government got a resolution passed in the Assembly favouring statehood for Telangana upon his re-election to Lok Sabha.

Accepting the challenge of Information Minister Mohd. Ali Shabbir that Mr. Narendra tender his resignation to pave way for a contest between them, the latter conveyed his conditional willingness to reporters here on Sunday. He, however, declined to take on Mr. Shabbir as "he is a member of Assembly." The Minister represented only a seventh of Medak Parliamentary constituency from where he got elected. He would contest only against another sitting Congress MP, he added.
