Police found the bodies in an open field after passers-by informed them

  • Involvement of some in the cable television or real estate business suspected
  • Gang rivalry to the fore after six months in city

BANGALORE: Two persons of a gang were murdered in Oddarapalya in Kengeri police station limits on Sunday, the police said.

Suresh alias Suri (35), whose name figured in the criminal records of Vijayanagar police station, and his friend, Tony, were chased by a gang of about 20 persons and hacked to death, the police said.

The bodies were found in an open land.

Suresh and Tony had gone in the morning to meet Muniraju, vice-president of Kengeri Town Municipal Council, in connection with providing cable television connection to two apartments in the locality, the police said.

They were on their way back when they were murdered, the police said and added that the two died on the spot.

Passers-by informed the police. The police suspected the involvement of some in the cable television or real estate business.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) K.V. Sharat Chandra said the police were yet to find clues regarding the gang.

Suresh and Tony were said to be the members of Cable Manja gang.

Suresh was alleged to be involved in the murder of Thammaiah in 2001.

Gang rivalry has come to the fore again in the city. In mid-February, an armed gang hacked Palani, who was an accused in 25 criminal cases, to death at a private hospital.

Then, Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy had asked the police to strictly enforce the Goonda Act to curb the increasing number of gang rivalry incidents in the city.
