KSSP seminars from tomorrow

Thiruvananthapuram: The seminars, being organised in connection with the State-level camp of Kerala Sastra Sahitya Parishad (KSSP) that begins here on September 30, will be held from Tuesday. A release here said seminars would be organised in four subjects. The seminar on " Nalathe Panchayat" would be held in 50 panchayats in the district from September 11 to 21. The district-level seminar in this connection will be inaugurated by Minister for Local Self-Government Paloli Mohammed Kutty at the Panchayat Association Hall here on September 23.

SFI seeks action against teacher

Thiruvananthapuram: The State committee of Students Federation of India (SFI) has demanded stern action against the teacher of the school in Thodupuzha for the alleged assault of a Class X student. In a release here, the SFI State committee said the police should register case against the teacher.

Holiday for school

Thiruvananthapuram: Holy Angels Convent Higher Secondary School, General Hospital Junction, will remain closed on Monday to mourn the death of Aparna G, an eighth standard student of the school and daughter of Kaliyoor Sasi, according to the school principal. Aparna passed away here on Sunday. - Staff Reporter

Fishworkers' plea

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Swathantra Matsya Thozhilai Federation on Monday submitted a memorandum to the Union Minister for Agriculture Sharad Pawar highlighting the social and ecological issues thrown up by the recommendations of the M.S. Swaminathan Committee on coastal zone and the fisheries- specific recommendations of the National Commission on Farmers.
