Man stabbed to death by brother

Quarrel over the use of a moped

BANGALORE: Following a petty quarrel, a 24-year-old man was stabbed to death allegedly by his younger brother at their house in K.R. Puram police station limits on Sunday night.

Police gave the name of the dead as Kantharaju, a building contractor and a resident of ITI Colony.

Around 8 p.m., Kantharaju allegedly beat his younger brother Venugopal (22) with a stick for using his moped without his consent.

In a fit of rage, Venugopal stabbed Kantharaju in the chest with a scissors, police said.

A severely bleeding Kantharaju was rushed to a hospital and was declared brought dead, they said.

The K.R. Puram police have registered a case and arrested the accused.

Group clash

Police have tightened security at Someshwaranagara and neighbouring areas in Siddapura police station limits following a clash between two groups during the immersion of Ganesha idol on Sunday night., according to police The police said that while the members of Sri Bhavani Balakara Sangha were taking a Ganesha idol in procession for immersion, people belonging to a particular community objected to the procession passing through a particular street, police said.

This led to a clash between the two groups.

Karthik, Secretary of Sri Bhavani Balakara Sangha, has lodged a complaint with the Siddapura police that the people belonging to the other group had brought down the "pandal" where the Ganesha idol had been installed, the police said.

Teams formed

The police have formed two special teams to apprehend the assailants who had hacked to death two people at Oddarahalli in Kengeri police station limits on Sunday.

The Assistant Commissioners of Police of Kengeri Gate and Vijayanagar sub-divisions will head the two teams.

The police have taken some people into custody and are questioning them with regard to the twin murder, police sources said.
