NEW DELHI: A 55-year-old businessman was found brutally murdered under highly mysterious circumstances at his Hailey Road residence near Connaught Place in New Delhi on Monday evening. He had been stabbed many times in the stomach, chest and back. The murder came to light around 6 p.m. when the victim's son discovered the body of his father, Ashok Khanna, lying in a pool of blood outside the bedroom. The son had gone to the house to check on Mr. Khanna as his family was concerned. According to the police, Mr. Khanna had not been answering the telephone all day. On finding the body of his father, the son immediately called the police. Inquires revealed that Mr. Khanna was a small-time businessman who had dabbled in many things. He had apparently been living alone in his ancestral home on Hailey Road for several years while his wife and two sons lived at Greater Kailash in South Delhi. The forensic team has lifted fingerprints from the spot for further investigation. It also picked up certain articles pertaining to the case from the room. According to the police, circumstantial evidence available so far suggested that there was no ransacking in the house. The police are also trying to investigate if the Hailey Road property was under dispute. Meanwhile, the body has been sent for post-mortem. The police are exploring every possible line of investigation and have sealed the house to ensure that the evidence is not damaged.
