Chief Minister's gesture brings relief to woman

This physically challenged person gets a fair price shop

BANGALORE: A young physically challenged widow from Gundlupet in Chamarajnagar district got a boon of sorts from Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy when she approached him for a daily wage job to eke out a living. The woman, Anitha, who is without legs, has to look after her two children and her father.

She has now been blessed with a fair price shop by the Chief Minister.

Unmindful of the physical exhaustion caused by his extensive tour of rural areas, Mr. Kumaraswamy on Tuesday chaired several meetings at the Vidhana Soudha. He curtailed his three-day rest at a resort on the outskirts of Bangalore as advised by his physician.

After briefing presspersons about the decision to advance his ambitious "Suvarna Gramodaya" plan to October 2, he was about to leave the conference hall of the Vidhana Soudha, but stopped on seeing Anita holding a petition.

On hearing her plight, he ordered the Commissioner of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Anil Kumar, to allot a fair price shop, so that she could lead life with some comfort.

He felt that a daily wage job would not meet her requirement of looking after her two children and father.

The necessary order would be given to her in due course of time, Mr. Anil Kumar added.

Later, Mr. Kumaraswamy said that he returned from the resort where he was staying as he did not want official work to suffer on account of his absence.
