Kullu to lead India

NEW DELHI: Jyoti Sunita Kullu will lead the Indian team in the 11th women's World Cup hockey tournament to be held in Madrid from September 27 to October 8.

India is pooled with China, England, Germany, the Netherlands and Spain in Group `A', while Group `B' consists of Argentina, Australia, Japan, South Korea, South Africa and the U.S.A.

Six players who figured in the silver medal-winning Indian team in the Commonwealth Games in March this year .

The team: Goalkeepers: Helen Mary, Dipika Murty; Full backs: Pushpa Pradhan, Binita Toppo, Suman Bala; Midfielders: Joydeep Kaur, Subhadra Pradhan, Gagandeep Kaur, Asunta Lakra, Rajwinder Kaur; Forwards: Sanggai Ibemhal Chanu, Deepika, Saba Anjum, Surinder Kaur, Jasjeet Kaur, Mamta Kharab, Jyoti Sunita Kullu (captain), Ritu Rani.

Officials: Chief coach: M.K. Kaushik. Coach: Anurita Saini. Goalkeeping coach: A.B. Subbaiah. Doctor: Dr. Amit Tyagi. Physiotherapist: Vikas Dhawan.

India's pool matches: September 27: v the Netherlands; September 29: v Germany; October 1: v England; October 3: v Spain; October 4: v China.
