Unnimoyi Smaraka prize for B.M. Suhara

For contributions to the literary field

KOZHIKODE: B.M. Suhara, writer, has been selected for the Unnimoyi Smaraka literary prize instituted by the Umminiyil Kudumbha Trust in memory of the poet Unnimoyi Umminiyil.

At a press conference here on Tuesday, trust office-bearers said Suhara has been selected for the award for her contributions to the literary field.

Vice-Chairman of the Kerala Sahitya Akademi U.K. Kumaran will present the award, comprising a purse of Rs.5001, citation and memento, to Suhara at a programme to be held in connection with the birth anniversary of Unnimoyi on September 14.

The function will be held at the poet's home in Pathanapuram Parakkadu.

Financial assistance

The trust will also offer financial assistance to three girls from economically weaker sections for their marriage.

Consolation prizes will be awarded to girl students who excelled in the examinations.
