Two die after drinking contaminated water

ANANTAPUR: Two elderly women died of contamination and about 90 others were hospitalised with gastroenteritis in S.Kothapalli and Cheruvukindapalli village of Chilamattur mandal, bordering Karnataka, in the district on Tuesday.

According to the information reaching here, a pipeline which supplies drinking water to the two villages was damaged. Water in the pipeline, consumed by the residents of these two villages, was contaminated due to leakage.

As a result of drinking contaminated water about 90 persons were taken ill. They were rushed to the Government Hospital in nearby Bagepalli town of Kolar district. Venkamma (75) and Narasmma (65) died under treatment. A majority of those admitted to the hospital were discharged after treatment .
