TUMKUR: Andhra Pradesh Minister for Agriculture N.Raghuveera Reddy has lauded the efforts of C.H. Maridevaru, Bangalore zone convenor of Kannada Sahitya Parishat, in founding and running Kannada medium schools in Andhra Pradesh villages along the State border. Inaugurating the buildings for Nolamba Higher Primary School and Nolamba Higher Secondary School at Nidraghatta in Madakasira Taluk of Anantapur district on Tuesday, Mr. Reddy said Prof. Maridevaru started Kannada medium schools in various villages in Andhra Pradesh as early as 1992-93 for the Kannada-speaking people living in villages bordering Karnataka. He said the Andhra Pradesh Government welcomed Mr. Marideavaru's efforts at catering to the needs of Kannadigas in the State.
Spirit of reciprocation
The Minister assured of all help and support to Prof. Maridevaru's educational ventures in his State. Mr. Reddy said, "I am very happy that the Karnataka Government has been reciprocating the same spirit of accommodation as far as the Telugu language and promotion of its culture in Karnataka is concerned. The two States have been enjoying good camaraderie." Siddalingaiah, Chairman of Kannada Development Authority, Government of Karnataka, presided over the function. H.R. Dase Gowda, Principal of Vidyodaya College, spoke. Nanjhavadhoota Swami of Sri Gurugunda Brahmeshwar Math, earlier conducted a religious discourse on the occasion.
