CHANDIGARH: An angry crowd went on the rampage and damaged the property, including computers, of Vishwas School in Hisar on Tuesday. According to official sources, the crowd was agitated over reports appearing in a vernacular daily and a TV channel that the director of the school was "sexually exploiting" young girl students. The students, their parents and the public staged a demonstration and enforced a bandh for some time demanding registration of a case and arrest of the accused. Sources said the staff of the school, including teachers, ran away after the mob ransacked the premises. Parents of the affected children said they were afraid to lodge complaint in writing. They also alleged that even though the teachers were aware of what was going on, they never took any action. Earlier, the director told a news channel that he was innocent and was being framed under a "conspiracy''. Meanwhile, the Hisar SSP, A. S. Chawla, asserted that strict action would be taken against the accused. He said a special team of policewomen had been constituted to record the statements of the victims who were in a state of shock. He disclosed that a case had been registered. It is learnt that the director was "absconding'' amid reports that three functionaries of the prestigious school had been detained by the police.
