Move to prevent spread of Jaundice in Haryana

CHANDIGARH: The Haryana Health Department has sent 20 blood samples collected from Shahbad town of Kurukshetra district to the Virology Department of the PGI medical institute here as a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of Jaundice.

Similarly, 67 samples of water have also been sent to the Karnal Laboratory of Public Health Department.

Stating this here on Tuesday, the Deputy Commissioner of Kurukshetra, T.K.Sharma, said that 55 patients having Hepatitis virus had been identified in the town and they were being provided complete treatment. Two patients had been referred to PGI, Chandigarh for treatment. People were being advised to drink boiled water, avoid taking stale vegetables and fruits and wash their hands thoroughly before taking the meals.

Halogen tablets were being distributed and super chlorine water was also being supplied in the area. The teams of doctors of Health Department and PGI were keeping a vigil on the situation. The old water pipes were also being replaced by the Public Health Department to stop the

water leakage. A team of doctors from the Virology Department of PGI had also been deputed in this area on the request of the district administration, he added.
