ANANTAPUR: The district unit of Communist Party of India (Marxist) and its frontal organisations including Andhra Pradesh Rythu Sangham staged protests at several places in the district on Tuesday, alleging neglect of farmers by the State Government. Addressing the activists on the outskirts of Anantapur, district secretary of Rythu Sangham P. Peddi Reddy urged the Government to disburse input subsidy against the crop loss suffered during the last kharif season to all farmers who did not get crop insurance immediately. He also requested the Government to announce the same for the current year too as kharif was a total failure in the district due to scanty rainfall. Further, he requested the Government to write off crop loans of farmers, fill tanks linked to HLC and PABR Right Canal, free supply of fodder in every village and declaring Anantapur as drought-hit district. Nine-hour power supply to agriculture, supply of alternative crop seed with 90 per cent subsidy and cloud seeding operations were their other demands.
