Bangalore: Scores of former IITians from Bangalore will be there too. The IIT Global Conference, scheduled to be held in Mumbai between December 23 and 25, has been announced here by Ashank Desai, chairman, Mastesk Ltd., who also chairs the Pan IIT-2006 Committee. "President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam has already confirmed his presence. We are awaiting the Prime Minister's office to confirm his attending the global conference'' Mr. Desai said. The 2006 Global Conference has the theme of "Inspire IITians to involve and transform India." Topics such as "Building India into a Knowledge Economy," "Getting the Governance You Want," and "Learning from successful entrepreneurs" will be among the subjects covered in the sessions, which will be held over a period of three days. There will also be time for networking, entertainment and much more, with State Bank of India and Videocon as the event sponsors. Over the years, more than three lakh individuals have graduated from the seven IITs across the country and got into key positions in India and abroad. They have not apparently lost their affinity towards for the country. They all say they hold a common dream of seeing India at the helm of global affairs, as a country looked upon by the other nations. For details, mail nandini.gharpure@gmail.com
