Woman `assaults' woman constable

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: A young woman created a flutter on Tuesday when she allegedly assaulted a woman constable and damaged the Inspector's chamber after barging into Malakpet police station.

The police had caught the accused woman Syed Nazima Sultana, 26, along with two of her associates a few months ago, on charge of robbing a person at Narayanaguda. She then moved the High Court and the matter was pending for judgement, police said.

Around 11 a.m. on Monday, the woman stormed into Inspector Someshwar's chamber, threw away files from his table and even tried to drag him from his chair. "She bit the hand of a woman constable Jhansi when the latter tried to pacify her," Malakpet Sub-Inspector Srinivasa Rao.

Sultana was taken into custody later and remanded in judicial custody.
