Staff Reporter

Charged with criminal conspiracy

  • Arrives in TADA Court with his sister
  • Sits in corner in courtroom

MUMBAI: Since his arrest in April 1993, actor Sanjay Dutt has attracted maximum media attention in the Mumbai blasts case. It was no different on Tuesday, when the actor, dressed in blue shirt and denims, walked into the designated TADA court here at 10. 30 a.m., accompanied by his sister Priya Dutt and Congress MLA Baba Siddique.

In 1995, Sanjay Dutt was charged with possessing an AK-56 rifle and criminal conspiracy.

The police had recovered a spring and a rod from his residence. After spending over 16 months in jail, he was released on bail.

He still has to take court permission every time he goes abroad for film shooting.

He acted in several movies during the course of this trial, including the recent "Lage Raho Munnabhai" in which he advocates Gandhian principles.
