Staff Reporter
BANGALORE:
A young man attempted suicide by consuming phenol at the Koramangala police station on Monday night.
According to sources in the city police, he has been admitted to a private hospital in Koramangala and is out of danger. They gave his name as Prasanna (22), a native of Hassan district.
The sources said Prasanna, an employee of a garment factory in Koramangala, was in love with one of his colleagues for the past two years. After he allegedly rejected the girl's proposal for marriage, she approached the Koramangala police on Monday, seeking justice.
The police summoned Prasanna on Monday night and reportedly kept him in the lock-up of the police station. The police told him and the girl that they would settle the matter the next day after consulting their family elders, the sources said. As his family members were not aware of his affair with the girl, a scared Prasanna consumed phenol in the lock up. Later as he complained of uneasiness, the police rushed him to a private hospital,.
