Distribution of free colour TV sets

TIRUCHI: Colour television sets will be distributed free to the residents of Samathuvapurams in the district on September 16.

The television sets would be distributed to the residents of Samathuvapurams situated at Pannappatti, Inamkulathur, Navalpattu, Ezhurpatti, Kannanur and Kallakudi, a press release from the Transport Minister and the secretary of DMK district unit, K.N. Nehru, here said on Tuesday.

Counselling for teachers

The second phase of counselling for Government school teachers in the district will be held at St. Anne's Middle School, Melapudur on September 16 and 17.

The counselling on September 16 is for teachers seeking promotions as well as transfers within the block, while the one on September 17 is for teachers seeking transfer from one block to another and mutual transfers, an official press release issued here on Tuesday said.

Society nets profit

The Tiruchi Postal Employees Cooperative Thrift and Credit Society has earned a net profit of Rs.27.56 lakh during 2004-05.

It has given 14 per cent as dividend to its members amounting to a sum of Rs. 17.14 lakh, its Special Officer V. Gunasekaran has said.

Speaking at the society's 45th and 46th council meeting at Srirangam here recently, Mr. Gunasekaran said that the Society obtained funds to the tune of Rs.1.39 crore from the Tiruchi District Central Cooperative Bank during 2004-05 and distributed loans for Rs.8.5 crore to its members, a press release issued here said.

Mettur level

The level at the Mettur dam stood at 111.28 feet against its full level of 120 feet on Tuesday.

The inflow was 10,111 cusecs and the outflow, 12,000 cusecs. — Staff Reporter
