Anti-quota leader is AIIMS RDA chief

New Delhi: Medicos protesting the Centre's reservation move on Tuesday scored a symbolic victory by winning the AIIMS Resident Doctors' Association elections amidst a last-minute boycott call by pro-quota doctors.

Kumar Harsh, a key figure of the anti-quota agitation, was elected president of the RDA trouncing Kapil Yadav in the polls on the campus which appears to have been polarised along caste lines.

Campaigning had reached a fever pitch with the incumbent anti-quota group listing several ``achievements'', including the lead it had taken in the 17-day agitation which had hit the headlines nationwide.

Apparently sensing defeat, the pro-quota group announced the withdrawal of its candidates this morning when the polling was about to begin. PTI
