Processions to mark Krishna Jayanti

KOCHI: Sreekrishna Jayanti on Thursday will be celebrated with a number of processions in the city.

It will mark the conclusion to the five-day of the celebrations organised by Balagokulam across the State.

The processions will start at 3.30 p.m. from Town Hall, Ayyappan Kavu temple, T.D. Temple, Ravipuram Temple and reach near Ernakulam Siva Temple via the Jose Junction, M.G. Road and D.H. Road.

A. Gopalakrishnan, prantha pracharak of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, will inaugurate the procession from Town Hall.

Swami Tapasymritandapuri will inaugurate the procession at T.D Temple, D. Sreedevi, former chairperson, State Women's Commission at Ravipuram and R. Bhaskaran, former judge, High Court at Ayyappan Kavu temple

Thousands of children are expected to participate in the processions dressed up as little Krishna and Radha.

A group of children dressed as the five Pandavas would lead the procession. There would also be small tableaux depicting incidents from Krishna's life. Similar processions will be held across the district.
