Kapur-Ghei lie in tied fifth

Kuala Lumpur : India's Shiv Kapur and Gaurav Ghei got off to a lacklustre start and were lying in tied fifth place with a score of 68 after the opening day of the World Cup Golf qualifier here on Wednesday.

Hong Kong's David Freeman and James Stewart who combined effectively to shoot an eight-under-par 63 were in the lead.

The top two teams after four rounds will qualify for the World Golf Championships-World Cup in Barbados in December.

The results: First round scores (fourballs): 1. Hong Kong (James Stewart/David Freeman) 63; 2. Philippines (Gerald Rosales/Juvic Pagunsan) 64; 3. Singapore (Mardan Mamat/Lam Chih Bing), Malaysia (Danny Chia/Iain Steel) 65; 5. Italy (Emanuele Canonica/Francesco Molinari), India (Shiv Kapur/Gaurav Ghei) 68; 7. Ghana (Emos Korblah/Victo Brave Mensah), Pakistan (Muhammed Munir/Imdad Hussain), Finland (Mikko Maneros/Juha Pekka Peltomaki) 69. — PTI
