BANGALORE: The Kolar Lokayukta police have caught a Revenue Inspector of Kolar while allegedly accepting Rs. 13,000 for change of khata. Devaraj, a resident of Hosahalli in Bangalore North taluk, filed an application for the change of khata of the land in Mandikal Hobli in Channapatna Taluk measuring four acres. S. Gopal, the Revenue Inspector, allegedly demanded bribe of Rs. 20,000. Devaraj paid Rs. 7, 000 and he was unwilling to pay the remaining amount. He filed a complaint with the Lokayukta police. The Lokayukta police laid a trap and caught Gopal while he was reportedly accepting Rs. 13,000. The police have booked a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act. Gopal was produced before the Principal District and Sessions Judge, Kolar, who remanded him in judicial custody.
Dismissed
The Commissioner for Food and Civil Supplies dismissed a Food Inspector of Shimoga district for being guilty of accepting bribe. Bheemanna, the Food Inspector and Nanjundeshwara, a Food Shirestedar, of Channagiri were convicted by the Principal District and Sessions Judge, Shimoga, for accepting Rs. 250 for the allotment of kerosene license. The court sentenced the two officials to undergo one year of rigorous imprisonment and also pay fine of Rs. 15,000 in March 2005.
