Thrissur: Acquisition of land for the proposed Guruvayur-Tanur railway line is difficult as the project is facing opposition from a majority of the public, Revenue Minister K.P. Rajendran has said. Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Mr. Rajendran said that opposition to the proposed project seemed to have no political basis. ``A recent discussion on the project indicated that many people from Malappuram oppose the project. The Government hopes that the hurdles can be cleared. Unless the Government acquires land for the project, the State will lose the proposed railway line. ``An office will be opened on September 20 for the project. Discussion will be held with Indian Railways on September 16 or 18,'' the Minister said.
