Inzamam, Shaharyar to attend hearing

Lahore: Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq, teammates Umar Gul and Danish Kaneria, team manager during the England tour Zaheer Abbas and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman, Shaharyar Khan, will attend the International Cricket Council (ICC) hearing in London regarding the ball tampering charges on September 27 and 28.

Meanwhile, the PCB chief remained cautious after the ICC had issued a "final warning'' against the top brass, asking them to refrain from making public statements over the issue.

During the press conference, Mr. Khan refused to take questions on the Oval Test controversy, which saw Pakistan forfeit the match after its initial decision to not to take the field.

``The matter is being probed and I would not like to comment on the issue,'' the PCB chief said.

He, however, announced that Inzamam and two other players, Gul and Kaneria, would attend the hearing along with Abbas and himself. ``The Oval Test incident was discussed in detail and various aspects were taken into consideration during the Ad-hoc Committee meeting,'' Mr. Khan added. — UNI
