Kuala Lumpur: Australian captain Ricky Ponting has been hauled by match referee Chris Broad for dissent during the first ODI of the DLF Cup here on Tuesday. Ponting was fined his entire match fee after being found guilty of `showing dissent at an umpire's decision'. An ICC release said the charge related to Ponting walking up to query Asad Rauf's call of a Nathan Bracken wide in the 33rd over of the innings. This construed a level 1.3 breach of the ICC code pertaining to dissent `by action or verbal abuse'. This being Ponting's second offence in the last 12 months the first happened against Bangladesh in Chittagong in April the punishment was raised to a level 2 offence. Broad said: "A captain should set the example, and it's not acceptable for any player let alone a captain to question an umpire's decision." Ponting, who pleaded guilty, apologised for the incident. "sInternational cricket matches are passionate affairs but as the captain of the Australian cricket team, I understand it's my responsibility to uphold the spirit of the game and I know that through my actions last night I let myself and the team down," he said in a statement.
