NEW DELHI: Presenting the best of Indian books in a large number of languages and on a wide range of subjects, the 12th Delhi Book Fair will be inaugurated by Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit at Hall No. 8 of Pragati Maidan here on September 16. Eminent poet Javed Akhtar will be the guest of honour on the occasion. The fair, organised by the India Trade Promotion Organisation in association with the Federation of Indian Publishers, will be open for the public up to September 24 along with two other popular events, `Stationery Fair' and `Sajavat'. The Delhi Book Fair is of particular significance to the entire publishing industry at this juncture when the global demand for Indian books and textbooks is on the rise. Foreign participants in the fair will include publishers and distributors from the United States, China, Iran and Pakistan. There will also be booksellers and dealers of teaching aids and computer software from these countries. National and international publishers, distributors, librarians and researchers besides academicians, writers, teachers, students and book lovers are expected to visit the fair. The eighth edition of the `Stationary Fair' offers a wide range of educational and office stationery products. `Sajavat' covers furniture, household products and stationery ware, household appliance, kitchenware, etc.
