CHENNAI: Southwest monsoon has been vigorous over Kerala and North interior Karnataka and active over coastal and south interior Karnataka. Rainfall occurred at most places over Kerala, Lakshadweep, and coastal Karnataka, at many places over interior Karnataka and at a few places over Rayalaseema, Telangana.

Isolated rainfall occurred over Tamil Nadu and coastal Andhra Pradesh.

The following stations recorded heavy to very heavy rainfall in centimetres:

Kaleshwaram (Karimnagar dt) 24, Nargund (Gagad dt) 15, Quilandy (Kozhikode dt) 14, Kannur 13, Vadakara (Kozhikode dt) 11, Kozhikode 10, Kozhikode Airport 9, Karkala (Udupi dt) and B.Bagevadi (Bijapur dt) 9 each, Paravur (Ernakulam dt) and Mannarkad (Palakkad dt) 8.

Forecast (Valid until Friday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at most places over coastal Karnataka, at many places over Kerala, Lakshadweep, Telangana and interior Karnataka and at a few places over coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema. Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely to occur over Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry.
