KOTTAYAM: The Dam Safety Authority on Wednesday inspected the Mullaperiyar dam, which has been in the limelight ever since a tremor in its vicinity on August 18. The four-member team led by chairman G. Sasidharan later told mediapersons that it would take an appropriate decision after a detailed study of the situation. It had asked the Tamil Nadu authorities to submit their suggestions, if any, for their perusal. The team, consisting of IDRB chief engineer N. Sasi, Inter-State Water Resources chief engineer K. Divakaran and retired chief engineer Kolalavalliamma, visited the main dam, the baby dam and the two galleries inside the main dam. The members' attempts to ascertain the rate of flow of the seepage water were not allowed by the Tamil Nadu authorities, who insisted on a written request.
