Nomula wants farm loans waived

Staff Reporter

Sangareddy : CPI (M) floor leader in the Assembly Nomula Narsimaiah has demanded waiver of farm loans in the drought-hit areas in the State, especially the Telangana region.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Mr. Narsimaiah wanted the Government to defer collection of fee from students belonging to weaker sessions in affected areas. He alleged that the State Government has been spending the Central funds meant for mitigation of drought to other purposes.

Mr. Narsimaiah wondered how the Government is managing the power production issue. He said that the administration is in suspended animation and simply watching the crops dry. He expressed anguish over the delay in announcing and implementing contingency plans in the face of severe drought in the State. He said that his party has been demanding drought-pensions to farm labour and rice for the Antyodaya cardholders.
