12 rakshana vedike activists arrested

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: The Vidhana Soudha police on Wednesday arrested 12 activists of the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike who barged into the Legislators' Home and locked the room of a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA to protest against his reported support to the Maharashtra Ekikarana Samithi (MES) during the recent election of the Belgaum Taluk Panchayat president.

The police said that shouting slogans against Abhay Patil, the BJP MLA for Bagewadi in Belgaum district, the vedike activists staged a demonstration in front of his third floor room in the new block of the Legislators' Home.

Though Mr. Abhay Patil's room was locked, the activists put another lock to register their protest.

On learning about the incident, the police rushed to the Legislators' Home and arrested the vedike activists.

Mr. Abhay Patil is also the national vice-president of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, at Legislators' Home.
