COIMBATORE: Sun Microsystems is to partner with Bannari Amman Institute of Technology to create an academic Centre of Competency on the institute campus in Sathyamangalam. K.S. Sundararaman, Director of the institute, said that the centre, with focus on enabling Solaris and Java competencies, would be inaugurated next month. It would have three laboratories. All Sun software and training material would be available free of cost at the centre. Initially, this would be for the institute students. The students and faculty of the institute would be exposed to the leading technologies in Solaris and Java. The centre would provide access to industry-certification courseware and Sun IP software. Engineers from the Sun's India Engineering Centre would provide training and also participate in talks and workshops for skill development of the students.
