Five arrested, robbery bid foiled

BANGALORE: The Central Crime Branch (CCB) staff on Tuesday night arrested a five-member gang that was planning to loot people in RMC Yard police station limits to meet the legal expenses of their accomplices who have been jailed in a murder case.

The police said the arrested were the accomplices of Sridhar and Prakash, who are now in Tumkur jail, in connection with a murder case.

Sridhar and Prakash had feared that their rival gang could attack them while being brought to the court here on Tuesday. When the police were taking them back to the Tumkur jail, their accomplices escorted them up to Tumkur Road.

Later, the five men were planning to rob people in RMC Yard because they had no money to pay the the advocates. The names of the arrested were given as Ravindranath (21) of Manjunathnagar, Pramod (23) of Subramanyanagar, Rama (21) of Malleswaram, Sandeep (24) of Kamakshipalya and Kiran Kumar (22) of Seshadripuram.
