Cash bag snatched from police officer's wife

BANGALORE: A motorist snatched a bag containing cash and credit cards from a senior police officer's wife in MICO Layout police station limits on Tuesday night.

The police said that around 8.45 p.m., Indumathi, wife of an Assistant Commissioner of Police, was walking towards her house in 2nd Stage, BTM, after telephoning her U.K.-based son from a public call office. A man, who was riding a motorcycle, snatched Indumathi's bag and sped away. She could not see his face as he was wearing a helmet, the police said.

On a complaint by Indumathi, the MICO Layout police have registered a case.

Girl raped

A minor girl was allegedly raped by a man, reportedly known to her, in Yelahanka police station limits. The incident that took place on Friday night has now come to light.

The police said that around 8.30 p.m. on Friday, the man lured the girl, a SSLC student, took her to an isolated place in Bharathinagar and raped her.

The accused has been identified as Nagur, the police said.

The Yelahanka police have registered a case.

Constable injured

A police head constable was seriously injured after he rammed his scooter against a pavement near the ESI hospital in Rajajinagar on Tuesday night.

The police said Nabirajaiah, attached to the Rajajinagar police station, hit the pavement while trying to avoid a pedestrian who suddenly came on to the road.

He had been admitted in a private hospital and he was critical, the police said.

Suicide

Ravi (18), a barber, allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at his room in Kargappa Garden in Sampangiramanagar police station limits on Tuesday night. A native of Pandavapura in Mandya district, Ravi was staying with his four friends in the room here. The reason for the suicide was not known.

Ornaments recovered

The Central Crime Branch (CCB) staff have arrested three persons on charge of chain snatching, robbery, burglary and vehicle theft and recovered from them two motorcycles, gold ornaments and silver articles, all estimated at Rs. 18 lakh.

The arrested were involved in 17 crimes, including 12 cases of chain snatching reported from Mahalakshmi Layout, Basaveshwaranagar and Indiranagar police station limits, the police said. The names of the arrested were given as Nayaz Khan (26), Tabrez Khan (21) and Issar (25), all residents of Kolar.
