Spreading happiness

Staff Reporter

SERVED WITH LOVE: Food being distributed at Vadavukode Government Hospital.

KOCHI: This is a free food service born out of love and nourished with care. It has been named `Pramodam,' a means to make people happy, says Bishop Mathews Severios of Kandanad West diocese of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church.

The project was conceived by the Mar Pachomios Charitable Society, Meempara, on the eastern border of Ernakulam district. Under the project, 300 needy patients in five Government-run hospitals are provided meals.

Neither bandhs nor holidays have disrupted the programme since it was launched last November. The meal is brought in a van and distributed from 11.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. daily.

Bishop Mathews Serverios says the project has received wide public support. At present, meals are distributed at the Vadavukode, Kadayirippu and Moovattupuzha hospitals. He plans to spread the food distribution programme to hospitals in Piravom and Koothattukulam.
