Micheel leads Woods

VIRGINIA WATER (England): Tiger Woods' five-tournament winning streak was in jeopardy on Thursday when Shaun Micheel won four straight holes and built a 3-up lead through 18 holes in the first round of the World Match Play Championship. Woods had to birdie the par-5 18th to keep the damage from getting any worse.

The scores (after 18 holes): Michael Campbell (NZ) leads Simon Khan (Eng) 2 up; Colin Montgomerie (Sco) and David Howell (Eng) level; Retief Goosen (RSA) and Paul Casey (Eng) level; Mike Weir (Can) leads Adam Scott (Aus) 2 up; Robert Karlsson (Swe) leads Jim Furyk (U.S.) 5 up; Angel Cabrera (Arg) leads Ernie Els (RSA) 1up; Luke Donald (Eng) leads Tim Clark (RSA) 1up; Shaun Micheel (U.S.) leads Tiger Woods (U.S.) 3 up. — Agencies
