Special Correspondent
Pondicherry: The management of the Centrally administered Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) has announced that a walk-in interview to appoint immediately employees `purely on a temporary and contract basis' for various posts in the institution will be held from September 15. The interview would go on for three days, according to the Director of JIPMER, K.S.V.K. Subba Rao. He said here on Thursday that the interview would be held at the institute (Director's office) from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. to appoint nurses, lab technicians, pharmacists, X-ray technicians, senior dressers, lower division clerks, steno typists and medical records clerks. The exact number of those to be recruited was not known immediately. The posting of the hands through this system had been planned to ensure patient care services in the hospital. Dr. Rao said that those intending to attend the interview should bring with them original certificates and all the usual conditions of employment would be applicable to them. An informed source said that this arrangement to have the staff on a contract basis had been made in response to the instructions from the Central Health authorities.
