MP critical of forest staff

ELURU: Kavuri Sambasiva Rao, MP, on Thursday criticised the personnel of the Forest Department for reportedly creating hurdles in taking up repairs to fishponds dug up beyond the prohibited plus five contour of the Kolleru lake. He was speaking at a programme at Pidichintalapadu after distributing loans to fishermen living within the lake which formed part of the rehabilitation package offered by the government for development of alternative livelihood for the people affected by the Operation Kolleru, involving dismantling of fishponds on a large scale in the plus five contour. Mr. Rao said he would take up the `attitude' of the Forest Department with the Chief Minister and help locals living on pisciculture above the plus five contour.
