HUBLI: Members of Jana Jagaran Vedike staged a protest at Rudraganga Layout near Gokul Garden here on Wednesday against the construction of a building for religious purposes and alleged that permission given for a residential building was being misused. The protesters wanted construction work stopped and said a building for religious purposes by a particular community would cause inconvenience to residents of the area. The police rushed to the spot, and after pacifying the protesters, took them to the Suburban Police Station to have a discussion with Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) D. Prakash. Mr. Prakash promised to look into the matter . Following his assurance, the agitation was withdrawn. Police Commissioner Narayan Nadamani said the police had sought details about the permission given for construction of the building .
