Letters to the Editor
The question raised in the BBC documentary al-Qaeda: Time to Talk? ("Is talking to Al-Qaeda an option?" Sept. 11) is interesting. It appears that after five years of the "war on terror," some voices in the West are thinking of possible alternatives. The example of the Irish peace process is relevant in this context. Maybe, the U.S. and its allies should consider what Peter Taylor, the journalist who made the documentary, says explore the option of talking to Osama bin Laden.
Bagisha Suman,
If the U.S. is serious about nabbing Osama, it should see through Pakistan's double game of being an ally in the "war on terror" and, at the same time, nurturing terrorism. If it tackles Pakistan, terrorism will decline considerably. A way can also be found to nab Osama, who is believed to be hiding on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
