Hearing adjourned
Legal Correspondent
New Delhi:
The Supreme Court on Thursday put off by 10 days the hearing of the petitions filed by three Jharkhand MLAs for a direction to restrain Speaker Inder Singh Namdhari from disqualifying them on grounds of defection pursuant to the notices issued to them.
A Bench consisting of Justices K.G. Balakrishnan and D.K. Jain adjourned the proceedings following the Speaker's decision permitting Stephen Marandi, Enos Ekka and Kamlesh Singh to participate in Thursday's floor test.
On Monday the Bench adjourned the proceedings till 1.30 p.m. on Thursday to know the outcome of the Speaker's decision on the disqualification complaints. The petitioners had alleged that the Speaker's notice was tainted with mala fides and was manipulated to change the ground situation.
