Wipro, TCS allotted land
Special Correspondent
CHENNAI:
The State Cabinet, which met here on Thursday, decided to allot 10 acres of land to Wipro and five acres to Tata Consultancy Services for their operations.
Stamp duty waiver
A meeting of the Cabinet decided to waive stamp duty and registration charges to enable a Non Governmental Organisation, LAFTI (Land for Tillers' Freedom), to purchase 1,061 acres in Nagapattinam and give it to landless farmers at the rate of one acre for each farmer.
(LAFTI has been engaged in buying land and handing it over to landless farmers.)
The Cabinet decided to grant registration and stamp duty exemption for the registration of houses of the kin of 19 Kargil heroes who were allotted houses in 1999-2000.
A press note said that a decision on the waiver was not taken by the AIADMK Government.
In another decision, oil cake and peas have been exempted from sales tax.
