State to write to Governor on session

BANGALORE: The Government will be writing to Governor T.N. Chaturvedi seeking his permission to hold a session of the legislature outside the State capital.

The Cabinet has decided to hold a special session of the legislature in Belgaum for five days from September 25. The session will be discussing the Office of Profit Bill and the border dispute with Maharashtra.

Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Krishna who is on a tour of European countries is expected to return Bangalore on September 23. Details of the session would be worked out in a couple of days, sources in the secretariat said. — Special Correspondent

Market value of property to go up

BANGALORE: The Government has decided to revise upwards the market value of immovable property in Devanahalli, Doddaballapur, Hoskote, Kanakapura, Nelamangala and Ramangaram taluks in Bangalore Rural district.

A draft of the revised values has been made available in the offices of the deputy registrars (Revenue) of Bangalore Rural district, Office of the Deputy Commissioner, offices of zilla panchayat and city municipal councils.

Members of the public can file objections, if any, to the Secretary, Central Evaluation Committee, Inspector General of Registration and Commissioner for Stamps, 7th floor, Water Board Building, Cauvery Bhavan, Bangalore, within 15 days, according to an official press release. — Special Correspondent

Officials transferred

BANGALORE: Aravind G. Risbud, Secretary (Land Reforms and Registration), Revenue Department has been transferred as Secretary, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj. N. Sivasailam transferred to Finance Department and posted as managing director, Karnataka State Beverages Corporation Ltd., vice R. Ramaseshan transferred. K.H. Gopalakrishne Gowda, Registrar of Cooperative Societies, has been transferred and the posting is yet to be announced.

Poor to get more wheat

BANGALORE: The Food and Civil Supplies Department has increased the quantum of wheat distributed through ration shops to families living below the poverty line from August 2006. They are now eligible to receive 20 kg of rice, 5 kg of wheat or 5 kg of ragi a month. Beneficiaries under the Annapurna scheme will get 29 kg of rice, 6 kg of wheat or 6 kg of ragi, according to an official press release. Till now, they were receiving 3 kg of wheat per month. — Special Correspondent

Verification of documents

BANGALORE: The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) will undertake verification of original documents and physical fitness of eligible candidates for the post of conductor at the Sports Complex, K.H. Double Road, adjacent to BMTC Central Office from September 19 to September 23.

An official release said individual intimation to eligible candidates (based on the marks scored in PUC) has already been despatched. If, however, candidates having equivalent or above cut-off marks and age do not receive the intimation before September 19, they can contact the KSRTC Central Office. — Staff Reporter

Three killed in accident

DAVANGERE: Three persons died on the spot when a truck in which they were travelling fell into a ditch near Govinakovi village in Honnali taluk during the early hours on Thursday. The deceased were identified as Abdul Kayan (35) Pradeep Miraj Dev (25) and Durgappa Bandyappa (17). The truck carrying iron ore was proceeding to Chamarajnagar from Ranibennur. — Staff Correspondent

HASSAN: Principal, Malnad College of Engineering (MCE), M.G. Venkatesha Murthy, has said that it is imperative for teachers to take extra care while drawing up syllabus and structuring examination pattern.

BSNL mela

SHIMOGA: The BSNL has arranged a mela at the Head Post Office building here behind the Main Telephone Exchange at Gopi Circle on September 15 and 16 to sell the mobile pre-paid SIMs and "Excel student power" SIMs.

Mobile recharge coupons and ITC, Sancharnet cards will also be available in addition to the on the spot BSNL land line booking will be made.

BHADRAVATHI: Stamp papers will be made available to users for sale at the Old Town branch of the State Bank of Mysore here from September 20, according to bank manager Rachaiah.

Consultants for project

PANAJI: The Goa Government will appoint consultants by December this year to advise it on its ambitious information technology project of extending 16 government services on-line to the public. Chief Secretary J.P. Singh, who is monitoring the project, told The Hindu on Wednesday that the idea is to set up citizen service centres to make available these services to the public directly. — Special Correspondent
