Gomez, Madan scalp five each

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: South Zone was in command against Central Zone at stumps on the first day of the three-day inter-zone under-22 cricket match here on Thursday.

Electing to bat, Central Zone was dismissed for 95 in 40 overs as medium-pacers Raiphy Vincent Gomez (five for 30) and Madan Mohan (five for 55) wrecked its innings.

In reply, South Zone was in a comfortable position and has already taken the first innings lead. At close, South Zone was 116 for three.

The scores: Central Zone 95 in 40 overs (Raiphy Vincent Gomez five for 30, Madan Mohan five for 55) v South Zone 116 for three in 30 overs (Sambasiva Sharma 49 batting, Mithun two for 31).
