CHANDIGARH: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said on Thursday that employment opportunities would be available for at least one member of each family in the next five years in the State. Addressing a public meeting in Rewari after dedicating a Rail Over Bridge on Rewari-Narnaul Road, he stated that it was not possible to provide Government jobs to all unemployed youth. This problem could be resolved by setting up big industrial units. Both domestic industrial houses and multi-national companies were eager to set up their ventures in the State, he claimed. He charged that the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) had been opposing the construction of the Hansi-Butana-Link Canal and the remaining portion of the Sutlej Yamuna Link (SYL) Canal in Punjab territory. Reiterating the commitment of the State Government to ensure optimum utilisation of water, he said the Government would construct a new canal of 500 cusecs capacity to carry more water to Gurgaon. Referring to the issue of power, he said that at present only 4,033 MW was available as against the demand for 8,000 MW. Power would be available in rural areas for 20 to 22 hours after the completion of an ambitious plan to generate 5,000 MW of additional power in next three years. The Union Minister of State for Defence, Inderjit Singh, said Congress party had been undertaking development works without any discrimination.
